Veeam Secures Leadership Position in Inaugural Gartner Privacy User Experience Magic Quadrant

Data protection powerhouse Veeam has been recognized as a leader in the inaugural Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privacy User Experience (UX), a milestone that highlights the evolving intersection of data resilience and regulatory compliance. The report, published in October 2026, evaluates vendors based on their ability to provide transparency and control over personal data, enabling organizations to manage subject rights and consent across diverse digital touchpoints.

Bridging the Gap Between Production and Backup

Veeam’s inclusion in this category is largely attributed to its strategic 2025 acquisition of Securiti, which integrated advanced data mapping and relationship intelligence into the company’s broader data management portfolio. By leveraging graph technology, the platform can scan and classify sensitive information across expansive environments, including public cloud estates like AWS. This capability addresses a critical vulnerability in enterprise IT: the persistence of personal data in backup copies long after it has been scrubbed or governed in production environments.

Veeam CEO Anand Eswaran emphasized that modern privacy is a continuous commitment that must extend to every instance of an organization’s data. According to Eswaran, the company’s ability to unify data security, governance, and compliance across both live production systems and secondary backup repositories is what differentiates it from other market participants. This unified approach ensures that consent preferences and subject rights are consistently enforced, regardless of where the data resides.

Data Security Posture Management and Recovery

A central component of Veeam’s privacy UX strategy is its DataAI Command Graph, which applies Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) across the entire data lifecycle. By identifying and classifying personal data in backups, the tool provides organizations with granular visibility into their data footprint. This intelligence is particularly vital during incident response, as it allows IT teams to prioritize the recovery of the most sensitive or regulated data sets first, thereby reducing exposure during a cyber event.

The Gartner report identifies eleven vendors in this space, with five classified as leaders. Veeam occupies a distinct position by focusing on the continuity of privacy controls from the production environment through to the backup layer. As enterprises grapple with increasingly complex data privacy regulations and the proliferation of cloud-native workloads, the ability to maintain a consistent privacy posture across all data copies has become a baseline requirement for enterprise resilience.

By integrating these privacy-centric features, Veeam aims to help organizations prove their privacy commitments through verifiable data governance. This development marks a shift in the data protection market, where the focus is moving beyond simple recovery to a more holistic model that encompasses security, compliance, and individual user experience.
